History of La Cosa Nostra

The tiny island of Sicily has a long history of being conquered and exploited. Rising out of this oppressed society was a fraternal brotherhood known as La Cosa Nostra, translating into english to mean "This Thing of Ours". Members of this organization were known as "Men of Honor".

The organization was originally created to issue justice and protection amongst the citizens, as the tyrant government could not be trusted to handle either of these. Rather than going to the police, citizens would often go to Men of Honor, who would act as judge, jury and sometimes executioner. Eventually this organiztion evolved into a criminal organization that terrorized the island of Sicily and today has grown to span the world as a multi-billion dollar criminal enterprise.
